Attendance

Every school day counts!
If you arrive at school for 8:55am, all pupils are in class and ready to learn for 9:00am!
At Marshfield, we believe that every school day does count; coming to school each day means learning something new every day. We would like to congratulate all of our pupils, parents and carers for their efforts to ensure that they attend school every day, where possible. We have seen a pleasing improvement in our overall attendance figures and wish for this to continue.
As well as attending school every day, we also believe in the importance of attending on time. Being punctual is an important aspect of life and therefore it is vital to ensure that all of our children arrive at school on time. Did you know that for every session that your child is late, their attendance figure drops by 0.4% and this also impacts on the overall class and school percentage.
Over the past two years at Marshfield, we have seen an increase in the number of children achieving 100% attendance as well as increased numbers of children attending for 95% and above. Lots of work has been done at school to recognise and reward these achievements.
Please see below for some of the ways in which good attendance and punctuality is rewarded at Marshfield:
Investors in Pupils
Every class has an Investors in Pupils target linked to attendance. When achieved, this is rewarded based on each individual class' choice of reward, e.g. class party, disco, film, baking, etc. Each class has an attendance display within their classroom, which shows the overall class attendance for each week in the half-term.

Attendance trophies
Every week, we announce the winners of our Attendance trophies. We have three trophies; one for each phase. Each class has a different coloured ribbon. When that class wins the cup, they tie a strip of their ribbon onto the cup, which stays there for the term. They also get to keep the cup in their classroom for a week.

100% Attendance
During Fridays Being Brilliant assembly, which is led by our School Council, every class which achieves an attendance figure of 100% for that week recieves a GOLDEN TICKET! This ticket allows the class to have 30 mins of 'free time' to partcipate in activities of their own choice. This was a decision made by our School Council, who believe that this is something our children would appreciate, enjoy and act as a good incentive to further improve our attendance and punctuality figures. We have seen excellent results so far!

Certificates
Each term, we reward all of our pupils with a certificate for achieving 100% for that term. We have a bronze, silver and gold certificate, which is awarded to pupils in an end of term celebration assembly, specifically to celebrate attendance and punctuality achievements. Along with each certificate, children recieve a gift. These gifts are currently being decided on by our School Council.

Raffle
Each term, every child who has achieved 100% attendance is given a raffle ticket to be drawn in our celebration assembly. This child then recieves a prize of a £50.00 gift, which they will select from the Argos catalogue. Remember the more 100% termly targets you achieve, the better chance you have of winning the voucher!

Party!
In each of our Phases, the class with the best overall termly attendance recieves £50.00 to spend on a party with a theme of their own choice.

Don't forget to attend every day where possible.
Parents and carers, please try to ensure that holidays are booked during holiday periods, where possible. All appointments for extended leave must be made via the office and held with Mrs Shah and Mrs Jackson. Any holiday taken without authorisation will be deemed as unauthorised.
